The Anaconda is a unique variation of the Western Hognose Snake (Heterodon nasicus). Thanks to its distinctive appearance and active character, this species has remained one of the most popular snakes in the hobby. Description
Anaconda is a heterozygous incomplete dominant mutation that affects the pattern of the western hognose snake. In this mutation, many dorsal saddles connect with each other while the lateral pattern is largely reduced. The belly is typically plain, completely black. Due to the reduced amount of pattern, the overall pattern distribution appears more open than in a Normal morph. When two Anaconda animals are combined, the homozygous incomplete dominant Superconda mutation is produced. The name refers to the similarity in pattern structure to the anaconda snake. This mutation is commonly used in combinations because of its pattern-reducing effect.
