The Superarctic Superconda is a unique variation of the Western Hognose Snake (Heterodon nasicus). Thanks to its distinctive appearance and active character, this species has remained one of the most popular snakes in the hobby. Description
Superarctic Superconda is a combination of the homozygous incomplete dominant superarctic mutation and the homozygous incomplete dominant superconda mutation. This combination usually hatches very dark and changes significantly in colour during the first sheds. The background develops into a white to light grey colour, while the head pattern generally remains dark. Due to the superconda mutation, the dorsal pattern is mostly or completely absent. Some specimens display a continuous stripe along the back. The belly is generally solid black. The influence of the superarctic mutation creates a strong concentration of melanin in parts of the pattern and maintains clear contrast between the pattern and background.
